OVOF Symposium on Industrial Symbiosis

Learn more about the growing Wenatchee Valley Industrial Symbiosis Initiative and its local projects, as well as other industrial symbiosis opportunities in the region, at OVOF’s Fall Symposium. Attendees will hear from some of the region’s leading practitioners and innovators about ways that industrial symbiosis creates economic value and eliminates environmental harm, and why the Wenatchee Valley is in a prime position to benefit from industrial symbiosis. The Wenatchee Valley was recently chosen as one of just seven communities in the state to receive technical assistance to develop industrial symbiosis parks.

Pioneered in Denmark beginning about 50 years ago, industrial symbiosis is a ground-breaking approach to infrastructure and economic development in which one facility’s waste streams — energy, water, materials, and residuals — become valuable inputs for other businesses and entities. It can strengthen local economies, reduce waste, and enhance environmental outcomes just by doing more with existing local resources.
